Two arrested after pursuit, NSW

Two men have been charged after several pursuits through Sydney’s north-west overnight, NSW Police say.

The incident began when a sedan – which had been reported stolen from Pemulway on Thursday (30 November 2017) – was seen being driven along Luxford Road, Shalvey, about 9.30pm (Friday 1 December 2017).

A pursuit was initiated and continued through Mt Druitt and Woodcroft before being terminated due to safety concerns. Police will allege the vehicle was being driven at high speed.

The police airwing, PolAir, were called on to assist and tracked the sedan through Mt Druitt, Blacktown, Quakers Hill and Hawkesbury Local Area Commands before it was road spiked on Garfield Road, Riverstone.

That sedan was dumped on Llandilo Road, Llandilo, where two men entered a hatchback. Polair tracked this vehicle to a home on Pelsart Avenue, Willmot, where two men were arrested about 10.30pm.

The men, aged 21 and 24, were taken to Mt Druitt Police Station, where it was established the older man was wanted for breaching a supervision order by leaving a rehabilitation facility in Lilyfield on Wednesday (29 November 2017).

Police will allege the stolen sedan was used in numerous offences and pursuits in the Blue Mountains, Cabramatta, Blacktown, Penrith and Mt Druitt areas over the past two days.

The 24-year-old man, from Redfern, has now been charged with nine offences

  • Fail to comply with extended/interim supervision order (four counts)
  • Dishonestly obtain property by deception
  • Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner
  • Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner
  • Never licensed person drive vehicle on road
  • Use vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed

The 21-year-old man, from Willmot, has been charged with 8 offences

  • Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously (two counts)
  • Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen
  • Larceny
  • Possess a prohibited drug
  • Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
  • Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner
  • Use vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed

Both men have been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court later today (Saturday 2 December 2017)
