Two arrested following Northern Suburbs pursuit

Local police and Banyule Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested two men as part of an investigation into a series of incidents across Melbourne on Sunday, Victoria Police say.

A stolen white Maserati was sighted by police at several locations in the northern suburbs including Epping, Thomastown, Reservoir and Preston.

A short pursuit took place however police on the road lost sight of the Maserati and it was terminated.

The vehicle’s occupants then dumped the car and two men were arrested by police in Thornbury just after 10am.

A 44-year-old Lalor man has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, drive manner dangerous, speed dangerous and refuse preliminary oral fluid test.

He was remanded to appear at Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court in February.

A 19-year-old Lalor man has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, aggravated burglary, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, handle stolen goods, possess proceeds of crime and other traffic offences.

He has been bailed to appear at Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on 17 January.

Police believe the Maserati was stolen along with a BMW from a Point Cook residence about 3.40am that morning.

The vehicle was then involved in an incident on Sycamore Street, Mill Park about 8.45am where it rammed a police vehicle.

No one was physically injured and the investigation into those two incidents remains ongoing.
