Two arrested over armed robbery at Morphett Vale, SA

A man and a teenage boy have been arrested after they used replica firearms to rob a youth of an electric scooter at Morphett Vale late last night, according to SA Police.

Just before midnight on Sunday 17 December, a youth was pushing a electric scooter along the footpath of Main South Road, when he was approached by two males who allegedly demanded the scooter. The victim refused, but the two males lifted their shirts to expose handguns in each of their waistbands.

The two suspects then walked off with the victim's scooter.

Shortly after police were called and they quickly set up cordons around the area locating the two suspects nearby.

A 22-year-old man from Reynella and a 17-year-old boy from Morphett Vale were both arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.

The Reynella man remains in police custody and is expected to attend the Christies Beach Magistrates Court later today. While the youth has been bailed to appear in the youth court at a later date.

Police patrols recovered both firearms after a search of the area, with both turned out to be replicas.
