Two arrested over serious assault at Thebarton, SA

Two people have been arrested and police are continuing to look for more offenders following a serious assault at Thebarton on Friday, according to SA Police.

About 5pm on Friday 20 May, the victim was allegedly lured to a location by people known to him and assaulted, including being beaten with a pole to the head and upper body. He was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

A 25-year-old Northgate man was arrested on Friday and charged with aggravated assault cause serious harm and unlawful detention. He was refused police bail and appear in court on Monday, where he was remanded in custody until 2 August.

Following further investigations by Sturt CIB detectives, a 22-year-old Brompton woman was arrested on Monday 23 May and charged with aggravated assault cause serious harm and unlawful detention. She was refused police bail and appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday 24 May.

It is believed four people were involved in the assault and detectives are continuing their investigation to identify the outstanding suspects.
