Two arrested over stolen property, SA

Two people have been arrested as part of an investigation into house break-ins and stolen property in the Sturt Local Service Area, according to SA Police.

Police were investigating a series of house break-ins at Flagstaff Hill on Wednesday 19 July when a Police Dog Operations patrol spotted a suspect vehicle on Norman Terrace, Everard Park around 2.45pm. The vehicle was pulled over and the driver was found in possession of jewellery allegedly stolen from break-ins earlier that day at Flagstaff Hill and Glenelg East.

The 31-year-old Clearview man was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated serious criminal trespass, three counts of theft and unlawful possession. He was refused police bail and appeared in court, where he was remanded in custody until 3 October.

Further investigations led Sturt CIB detectives to an Edwardstown address, where they recovered a significant quantity of stolen property. It will be alleged the property was linked to several other house break-ins at Coromandel Valley, Forestville and Brooklyn Park in the past fortnight.

A 28-year-old Taperoo woman found at the house was arrested and charged with four counts of theft by receiving and unlawful possession. She was granted court bail to reappear on 24 August.

Sturt CIB detectives are continuing investigations and have not ruled out further arrests.

Police are continuing to run Operation Subtract, a specific operation launched in December focusing on break-ins and stolen property across the metropolitan area.

Anyone with information that may assist investigations is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at http://crimestopperssa.com.au

Police remind the public to be vigilant and take note and report any suspicious behaviour in their neighbourhoods.

Police also suggested taking and storing clear photographs of jewellery or valuables and make a note of descriptions and serial numbers to assist in reporting any theft or loss and helping police to identify the rightful owners of property.
