Two Boys Charged Over Armed Robbery, Southport

Police have charged two boys following the armed robbery of a boy at Southport last night, 15 March.

It will be alleged that around 10pm, a 13-year-old boy was travelling on a tram when he was approached by two other boys who produced a knife and demanded his necklace and jumper.

The 13-year-old complied, and the pair exited the tram at Southport.

The 13-year-old was not physically injured during the incident.

Police were notified and tracked the two boys to Queen Street at Southport where they were arrested at 10.07pm.

It will be alleged that a subsequent search of the pair located the 13-year-old's property and a knife, which was seized.

A 16-year-old Ashmore boy was charged with one count each of armed robbery, possession of knife in a public place and going armed to cause fear.

A 15-year-old New South Wales boy was charged with one count of armed robbery.

Both boys are scheduled to appear at the Southport Childrens Court on 18 March.
