Two Charged After Firearms, Drugs Found in S. Melbourne

Detectives from the Illicit Firearms Squad have charged a man and a woman overnight as part of an investigation into alleged drugs and firearms trafficking in South Melbourne.

A warrant was executed at a residential property on Gladstone Street about 9.20am on Monday, 22 December.

Police seized:

• A Winchester Model 94 Big Bore rifle stolen from an address in Macclesfield in 2023,

• Four gel blaster revolvers,

• A gel blaster semi-automatic pistol,

• Two suppressors,

• Various firearm parts,

• Cartridge ammunition in various calibres,

• Methylamphetamine, 1,4-Butanediol, a white powder substance, other various steroids and pharmaceuticals, and

• Fraudulent identities and bank cards.

A 37-year-old South Melbourne woman and a 29-year-old South Melbourne man were arrested and interviewed by police.

Both were charged with possess traffickable quantity unregistered firearms, possess firearm parts for the manufacture of firearms, possess firearm/imitation firearm/suppressor, traffick commercial quantity methylamphetamine, traffick 1,4-Butanediol, possess ammunition and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

The duo will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
