Two charged after loaded firearm located in Marulan

A man and woman are due to appear in court after a loaded firearm and weapons were allegedly located in a vehicle at Marulan yesterday, NSW Police say.


About 6.15pm today, officers from The Hume Traffic and Highway Patrol were conducting traffic enforcement duties on the Hume Highway at Marulan.

A white Toyota Camry was stopped and police allegedly saw a firearm under a blanket in the back of the car.

The driver, a 39-year-old woman and the passenger, a 43-year-old man, were spoken to before being removed from the vehicle.

Officers searched the car and allegedly found a loaded double-barrel shotgun, knives, a wire garrotte, ammunition, and clothing.

The man and woman were arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station.

He was charged with possess unregistered firearm, not keep firearm safely, possess ammunition, custody of knife in public place, possess or use prohibited weapon, and possess prescribed restricted substance.

She was charged with possess unregistered firearm, not keep firearm safely, and possess ammunition.

Both were refused bail to appear at Goulburn Local Court tomorrow.
