Two charged after pursuit in Guildford

A man and a woman have been charged after a police pursuit at Guildford yesterday, NSW Police say.

Just after 3.30pm today, officers from Rosehill Local Area Command were patrolling on Excelsior Street, when they observed a white Holden utility driving in an erratic manner.

Police attempted to stop the utility on Woodville Road, and when it allegedly failed to stop a pursuit commenced.

A short time later, the vehicle crashed into a parked car on Townsend Street.

The driver, a 40-year-old man, ran from the scene; however, with the assistance of the Dog Unit he was located under a nearby property on Bursill Street and arrested.

During his arrest, he allegedly resisted police and OC spray was deployed.

His passenger, a 27-year-old woman, was arrested at the scene of the crash.

They were both taken to Parramatta Police Station.

The man was charged with eight offences including an outstanding arrest warrant for inmate escape lawful custody, police pursuit-not stop-drive recklessly, two counts of destroy or damage property, trespass, resist arrest and traffic offences.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court tomorrow.

The woman was charged with supply prohibited drug and possess prohibited drug.

She was granted conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday 7 February 2017.
