Police have charged two men after two separate e-bike thefts in Wollongong earlier this week.
Between 10am and 10:40am on Tuesday 7 April 2026, an e-bike was allegedly taken from an educational facility in Gwynneville.
Less than 24 hours later, about 11:50am on Wednesday 8 April 2026, a second e-bike was allegedly stolen from outside a restaurant on Gladstone Avenue, Wollongong.
Officers from Wollongong Police District commenced inquiries, and about 3pm on Wednesday 8 April 2026, officers attached to the Proactive Crime Team Wollongong arrested two men – aged 20 and 29.
They were taken to Wollongong Police Station where the younger man was charged with two counts of larceny and remain in building/land with intent commit indictable offence.
He was refused bail, and will appear before Bail Division Court 3 today, Thursday 9 April 2026.
The older man was charged with larceny, remain in building/land with intent commit indictable offence and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.
He was given conditional bail and is scheduled to appear before Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 26 May 2026.
During the investigation, police located both stolen e-bikes. The bikes were seized and later returned to their rightful owners.
