A man and a woman have been charged and stolen property, including firearm barrels, has been seized by police in Far West NSW following an ongoing investigation, NSW Police say.
Strike Force Wallangunda was formed by detectives from Darling River Local Area Command in August 2016 to investigate a series of break and enter offences on rural properties in the Nymagee and Cobar areas.
On Friday 19 August 2016, police executed a search warrant at a home on Yarran Circle, Cobar.
Officers located and seized a number of items of stolen property including motor bikes and two firearm barrels. Cannabis and scales were also located and seized for forensic examination.
Following further inquiries, about 9pm yesterday, police attended a rest stop on the Barrier Highway, about four kilometres east of Cobar.
At the location, police searched a vehicle and located and seized cannabis and an item, believed to be a firearm, wrapped in a towel.
A 29-year-old man and 59-year-old woman were arrested and taken to Cobar Police Station.
The man was charged with 15 offences including two counts of break and enter, steal dog, four counts of goods in custody, unauthorised possession of firearm, two counts of unauthorised possession of firearm barrel, supply prohibited drug, take and drive conveyance and other driving offences.
He was refused bail to appear at Bourke Local Court today where he was granted conditional bail to reappear at Cobar Local Court on Monday 24 October 2016.
The woman was charged with supply prohibited drug and granted conditional bail to appear at Cobar Local Court on Monday 24 October 2016.
