Two charged following armed robbery of convenience store in Wollongong

A man and a woman have been charged following an alleged armed robbery in Wollongong yesterday, NSW Police say.

Just after 2pm (Sunday 28 October 2018), a man and a woman entered a convenience store on Crown Street.

The woman allegedly threatened a 19-year-old male staff member with a knife, while the man stole cash, before the pair left the area.

Officers from Wollongong Police District were contacted and commenced inquiries into the incident.

A short time later, police arrested a 29-year-old woman and 33-year-old man at a licensed premises on Burelli Street.

They were taken to Wollongong Police Station, where they were both charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.

The pair were refused bail and will appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Monday 29 October 2018).

The staff member was not physical injured during the incident.
