Two charged following investigations into armed robbery in Matraville

Two charged following investigations into the armed robbery of a pharmacy at Matraville, NSW Police say.

Just before midday Saturday 16 July 2016, a man entered the pharmacy on Perry Street armed with a syringe.

The man threatened staff before fleeing with cash and prescription medication and was last seen running west along Perry Street.

Police were alerted and officers from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

A search of the area was commenced with assistance from PolAir, however the man was not located.

On Thursday 21 July 2016, a 31-year-old man was arrested and charged with robbery with offensive weapon (x5) and aggravated assault with intent.

The charges relates to the Matraville robbery and four other alleged armed robberies this month.

He was refused bail and appeared at Central Local Court on 21 July 2016 where he was again refused bail and is due to appear at Central Local Court on 13 September 2016.

About 9.30am today, a 19-year-old woman was arrested at Maroubra in relation to the armed robbery.

She was taken to Maroubra Police Station and charged with armed robbery and conceal serious offence.

The woman was refused bail and will appear in Waverly Local Court tomorrow.

Police will allege the woman assisted the man during the robbery.
