Two Charged in Burwood Salon Fire Investigation

Two men will face court charged after an investigation into a suspicious fire which damaged a salon at Burwood in June this year.

About 5am on Friday 13 June 2025, emergency services were called to a shop on Burwood Road, Burwood, following reports of a fire.

Officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command attended alongside Fire and Rescue NSW crews who extinguished the blaze.

The fire resulted in the evacuation of a residential complex above the shop.

No injuries were reported; however, the shop sustained minor damage.

Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the fire.

Last month, on two occasions (Wednesday 2 July and Saturday 5 July 2025), police were called to the same location following reports several males were seen attempting to gain access to the premises.

The men left the scene prior to the arrival of police.

Strike Force Kauring was established to investigate the circumstance surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries and an appeal for assistance detectives executed two search warrants at homes in Revesby and Casula, about 7am today (Friday 8 August 2025).

A 43-year-old man was arrested at Revesby and taken to Bankstown Police Station. He was charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence. He was refused bail and appeared before Liverpool Local Court, where he was formally refused bail, to reappear before Burwood Local Court on Wednesday 8 October 2025.

A 42-year-old man was arrested at Liverpool and taken to Liverpool Police Station. He was charged with aggravated B&E commit serious indictable offence and aggravated break and enter w/i-in company-not steal etc.

He was refused bail and appeared before Liverpool Local Court today, where he was formally refused bail and will reappear at Burwood Local Court on Wednesday 1 October 2025.
