Two Charged in Thrumster Break-In

Two men will face court charged after an alleged aggravated break and enter earlier this week.

About 12.25am on Tuesday 3 March 2026, emergency services were called to Campus Street, Thrumster, following reports of an aggravated break and enter.

Officers from Mid North Coast Police District attended and were told an unknown man allegedly entered the home and stole the keys to a vehicle parked in the driveway.

The occupant, a 47-year-old woman, attempted to intervene before she was pushed to the ground by a second man – allegedly armed with a machete.

Both men then left the scene in her vehicle. She sustained minor injuries.

About 1am, the vehicle was located unattended on Gordon Street, where it was seized.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the incident commenced.

About 7am on Friday 6 March 2026, police attached to Mid North Coast and Manning Great Lakes Police Districts executed three search warrants at homes in, Wingham, Taree and Port Macquarie.

A 29-year-old man was arrested at the Taree address and a 32-year-old man was arrested at the Wingham address.

They were taken to Taree Police station.

The older man was charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, armed with intent commit indictable offence, face blackened / disguised with intent commit indictable offence, commit s114 offence, having previous conviction, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity and two counts drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

The younger man was charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, armed with intent commit indictable offence, face blackened / disguised with intent commit indictable offence, commit s114 offence, having previous conviction, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

They were refused police bail to appear before Bail Division Court 1 Today (Friday 6 March 2026).
