Two charged over stolen vehicle, Harristown / Toowoomba

A 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man have both been charged after Toowoomba police, with the assistance of Polair 1, intercepted an alleged stolen vehicle on the Warrego Highway last night (Friday, March 17, 2017), Queensland Police say.

Polair 1, who were in Toowoomba on an unrelated matter, were tasked to monitor and follow the stolen vehicle after it was spotted by police in the Wilsonton area around 11pm.

The vehicle, which contained three people, travelled onto the Warrego Highway and headed west before stopping briefing at a closed petrol station, before turning around and heading back towards Toowoomba.

A tyre deflation deployment site was identified and ‘stingers’ were successfully deployed.

The vehicle continued along the Warrego Highway for approximately 2kms before it came to rest on the side of the highway, with the three occupants fleeing on foot.

Police, with the assistance of the dog squad, apprehended two males.

The vehicle was seized and towed for forensic examination.

A 20-year-old South Toowoomba man has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possession of a drug utensil. He is due to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on April 3.

A-16-year-old Rockville boy was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Police investigations are continuing.

The vehicle had allegedly been stolen from an address in O’Quinn Street, Harristown around 9.45pm on Friday evening.
