Two charged with assault, NSW

About 1.30am today, a verbal altercation began between people at two tables at a fast food restaurant on Darlinghurst Road.

Police will allege a 22-year-old woman was hit by a soft drink thrown by one man, with another man throwing the contents of his drink at her.

As the two men began walking from the scene, a 21-year-old man who was walking past tried to intervene and was allegedly punched, falling to the ground.

He suffered facial injuries.

Police arrested two men, aged 21 and 20, a short distance away.

They were both taken to Kings Cross Police Station, with the younger man charged with two counts each of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault, as well as one count of affray, and the older man charged with common assault and affray.

Both men were granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday 6 December 2016.
