Two charged with murder in Lithgow

Police have charged two people with murder following the discovery of a man’s body in Lithgow last mont, NSW Police sayh

About 12pm Wednesday (7 September 2016), police from Chifley Local Area Command were called to a home on Main Street, Lithgow, where they located the body of a man.

A post mortem revealed the man sustained stab wounds, and confirmed his identity as 69-year-old resident, Chris Whiteley.

Local detectives, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, have established Strike Force Armor to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr Whiteley suspected murder.

As a result of their investigation, today police arrested two people - a 22-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman - at a home in Wallerawang.

The pair were taken to Lithgow Police Station where they were charged with murder and firearms offences.

Both people were bail refused to appear before Lithgow Local Court tomorrow
