Two killed in motor vehicle crash, NSW

Two people have been killed in a collision between two vehicles at St Peters this morning, NSW Police say.

Shortly after 4.30am tomorrow, emergency services were called to The Princes Highway at St Peters near Canal Road following reports of a serious crash.

It appears that a Hyundai sedan was travelling west on Canal Road when it was struck by a 4WD that had been travelling north on the Princes Highway.

A male occupant of the Hyundai sedan was deceased at the scene while the second occupant, also a male, was in a critical condition, but also died a short time later.

The male driver of the 4WD, a confirmed stolen vehicle, was arrested at the scene and is assisting police at Newtown Police Station.

Officers from Newtown Local Area Command and the Crash Investigation Unit established a crime scene and remain at the location.

The stolen vehicle had been involved in a police pursuit but that had been terminated prior to the crash.
