Two Killed in NSW Underground Mine Blast

Two people have died in an explosion this morning at an underground mine in the state's Far West.

Emergency services were called to the mine on Endeavour Mine Road at Cobar, about 450km east of Broken Hill, about 3.45am (Tuesday 28 October 2025), after being told two people had been critically injured in a workplace incident.

Officers attached to Central North Police District arrived and were told a man had been confirmed dead after the underground explosion.

Two women were brought to the surface; however, one has since died. The second woman has now been airlifted to hospital suffering hearing damage and shock.

Emergency services remain at the scene. Police will prepare a report for the Coroner and assist SafeWork NSW in its investigation.
