Two men arrested after man stabbed in Wollongong

Two men remain in police custody after a man was stabbed in Wollongong overnight, NSW Police say.

Just after 11pm (Saturday 9 June 2018), two men and a woman were walking along Burelli Street, when they observed three people in a stationary Ford Fiesta.

The group exchanged words before a fight ensued, during which the 22-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to Wollongong Hospital, where he is expected to undergo surgery.

Officers from Wollongong Police District arrested two men, aged 25 and 33, at a home on Osborne Street.

They were taken to Wollongong Police Station.

Inquiries are continuing to locate a third man.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
