Two men charged after stealing cash in Corrimal

Two men will face court next month charged with larceny after allegedly stealing cash from a veteran in the state’s Illawarra region, NSW Police say.

Police have been told a 79-year-old man attended a bank to withdraw cash, before attending a supermarket on the Princess Highway, Corrimal, about 11am on Thursday 27 April 2017.

The man left a bag, which contained the cash and a number of other items, in a trolley after he finished shopping.

It will be alleged a 58-year-old man picked up the bag and handed it to man in car which was parked nearby.

About 11.30am the elderly man went back to the shopping centre to try and locate his bag and when he was unsuccessful, he reported the incident to police.

Officers attached to Wollongong Local Area Command commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, police arrested and charged a 59-year-old man and 58-year-old man with larceny.

Both men were granted conditional bail and are due to appear at Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 23 May 2017.
