Two men charged after vehicle stop in Kempsey

Two men have been charged after a vehicle stop in Kempsey yesterday, NSW Police say.

Officers attached to Mid North Coast were patrolling the Pacific Highway, Kempsey, about 10am on Wednesday 17 January 2018, when they stopped a Mazda that was reported stolen.

Police searched the vehicle and allegedly located a shortened air rifle, two knives, and property believed to be stolen.

The driver, a 21-year-old woman, and two male passengers, aged 28 and 32, were arrested and taken to Kempsey Police Station.

The 32-year-old man was charged with break, enter and steal, destroy or damage property and goods in custody suspected of being stolen x5.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Kempsey Local Court on Monday 22 January 2018.

The 28-year-old man was charged with dishonestly obtain property by deception, possess shortened firearm without authority and custody of knife in public place.

He was refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday 24 January 2018.

The 21-year-old woman was released pending further inquiries.
