Two men to appear in court after fraud charges

Two men have been charged with alleged fraud offences after search warrants were executed in Constitution Hill and Granville today.

About 1.50am on Saturday 11 January 2020, officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command stopped a grey Toyota Yaris outside Strathfield Railway Station and spoke with the driver, a 34-year-old man and a passenger, a 26-year old man.

Upon searching the vehicle, police located a large amount of mail, mobile phones and a small amount of prohibited drugs.

Both men were arrested and taken to Burwood Police Station. They were later released pending further inquiries.

Following an investigation, police identified a number of alleged fraudulent transactions conducted on suspected stolen credit cards totalling almost $20,000 that occurred across the South West and North West Metropolitan regions.

At 8.10am today (Tuesday 21 January 2020) police attached to the Burwood Proactive Crime Team executed a search warrant at a home on Clyde Street, Granville.

A 34-year-old man was arrested and taken to Granville Police Station.

Upon searching the home, police allegedly located prohibited drugs and items believed to be proceeds of crime.

At 9.15am today, a second search warrant was executed by the Burwood Proactive Crime Team, assisted by officers from Parramatta Police Area Command, at a home on Tabooba Street, Constitution Hill.

A 26-year-old man was arrested and taken to Parramatta Police Station.

Upon searching the home, police located items believed to be proceeds of crime.

The 34-year-old man was charged with two counts of deal with identity info to commit etc indictable offence, ten counts of dishonestly obtain property by deception, two counts of possess prohibited drug, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle) and possess/attempt to, prescribed restricted substance.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 22 January 2020).

The 26-year-old man was charged with ten counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception and goods suspected stolen in/on premises (not motor vehicle).

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 3 March 2020.
