Darebin Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for information following a burglary at a bank in Reservoir over the weekend.
Police responded to the break-in at the Spring Street branch following the activation of the security system on Sunday 31 July about 9.45pm.
Investigators believe two men forced their way into the building and attempted to gain access to the branch automatic teller machine before they were disturbed by the audible alarm and fled the scene empty handed.
It is believed the pair attended the address on a number of occasions in the preceding 24 hours in preparation for their attempted heist.
Images and CCTV of the two men involved has been released in the hope someone comes forward with information.
The first man is described as 40 to 55-years of age, Caucasian, of medium height, with a solid build and round face. He was dressed in a hoodie and tracksuit.
The second man is described as being of similar age, Caucasian, tall with leaner features. He was also dressed in a hoodie and tracksuit.
