Two people charged with drug and firearm possession in Redfern

A man and woman will appear in court today facing charges of alleged drug and firearm possession in Haymarket yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 10am yesterday, officers from Redfern Drug Unit stopped a 27-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman as they were leaving an apartment block on Campbell Street.

They were searched and police will allege they located methyl amphetamine, cannabis and GBH, as well as $2000 cash in a bag the man was holding.

He was arrested and taken to Sydney City Police Station where he was charged with supply/possess prohibited drug and possess prohibited weapon.

Officers searched a vehicle connected to the male and female and allegedly located a .22 calibre pistol and ammunition.

The woman was charged with possess prohibited weapon and ammunition.

Both were refused bail and will appear in Central Local Court today.
