Two protesters charged in Sydney

Two people have been charged following a protest in Sydney’s CBD today.

About 5am today, a number of protestors gathered in Darling Park on Sussex Street, Sydney

It will be alleged, two men, aged 31 and 36, wearing climbing equipment have climb up both pillars of the suspension footbridge.

Officers from Sydney City Local Area Command attended and attempted to communicate with the men.

The men ignored police directions to come down and unveiled a banner.

NSW Police Rescue attended and assisted both men to the ground, where they were arrested.

Both men were taken to Day Street Police Station where they were charged with risk safety of others by abseiling/jumping of building/structure, paint, erect, affix a decoration, sign, other equipment, and remain on prescribed premises without lawful excuse.

They were granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 7June 2017.
