Two women to face court after ice and cash found at Goulburn

Two women will appear in court today after police located almost $30,000 in cash and over $23,000 of ice allegedly concealed in a car near Goulburn yesterday.

At 2.40pm (Tuesday 21 April 2020), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command stopped the driver of a Hyundai for a roadside breath test on the Hume Highway, Boxers Creek.

Checks revealed the driver, a 29-year-old woman, had her licence cancelled on Wednesday 5 February 2020 and that she had allegedly been charged with driving without a valid licence four times already this year.

The woman also participated in a roadside drug test that allegedly returned a positive indication for methylamphetamines.

She was arrested and the vehicle was searched with police locating 2.18g of ice and prescription medication allegedly inside her handbag.

Police also located 28.8g of ice and $29,380 cash allegedly concealed inside cereal and biscuit boxes within a shopping bag, and seven mobile phones in the rear of the Hyundai.

The estimated potential street value of the ice located is $23,235.

A passenger in the vehicle, a 35-year-old woman, was also arrested and both were taken to Goulburn Police Station.

The younger woman, from Telopea, was charged with never licensed person drive vehicle on road - prior offence, possess prohibited drug, and possess/attempt to, prescribed restricted substance.

The older woman, from Marrickville, was charged with possess prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug (indictable), goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle), and recklessly deal with proceeds of crime.

Both women were refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Wednesday 22 April 2020).
