UConn Avery Point Magazine Honored

Wrack Lines, a magazine published by the Connecticut Sea Grant Program, has won a national award.

The Spring-Summer 2019 issue of Wrack Lines magazine, a publication of Connecticut Sea Grant at UConn Avery Point, has received a prestigious Grand Award in the APEX 2020 Annual Awards for Publication Excellence competition for communications professionals.

This year, 100 Grand Awards were given for outstanding work in 12 categories, from among 1,183 entries received from organizations across the country. The Wrack Lines issue was chosen from among 241 entries in the magazines, journals and tabloids category of the contest.

The Spring-Summer 2019 issue, titled "Making Connections: As the Climate Changes, People and Nature Intertwine in New Ways," contained articles about the increase in coastal road flooding; new research into wind risk for homes; the lingering effects of Superstorm Sandy; CT Sea Grant's Crosscurrents retrospective art exhibit; and an essay on the beloved nature writer Edwin Way Teale.
