Uluru Statement from Heart

Lithgow Council

As part of Council's ongoing commitment to working with Lithgow's First Nation's communities, councillors have been given a briefing on the Uluru Statement from the Heart.

Local Wiradjuri women Bridget Cama and Brydie Zorz presented an overview on 29 March of the history indigenous representation in our country and the specific issues that are currently under debate regarding the Uluru Statement and the constitutional reforms called for.

Councillors were positive in their responses and expressed a warm desire to work closely with local First Nation's people to ensure there is a platform for Indigenous voices to be heard, both locally and on a national level.
