UN Women Alarmed by Iran Strikes, Mideast Tensions

UN Women

UN Women is gravely concerned by the military strikes against Iran and the subsequent escalation across the Middle East, placing civilian populations, including women and girls, at immediate risk.

Women and girls everywhere have the right to live in safety and in peace, free from violence and discrimination. Escalating hostilities disrupt essential services, increase the risk of gender-based violence, and further constrain and endanger women-led organizations and first responders.

UN Women echoes the Secretary-General's call for immediate de-escalation in the Middle East and for all sides to uphold international law and to protect women and girls and all civilians and civilian infrastructure.
