Unarmed robbery, unlawful use of a motor car, Gailes and Mount Gravatt

Four people are assisting police with inquiries following an unarmed robbery and evade police incident last night which damaged a police car, Queensland Police say.

At around 9.15pm, a 33-year-old man was assaulted by a group of men on Logan Road at Eight Mile Plains who stole his wallet, phone and car keys.

They demanded to know where his car was parked before taking it.

Polair tracked the vehicle through Tarragindi, out onto the Ipswich Motorway and down to Gailes.

Just after 10pm, police deployed a tyre deflation device on Newman Street, Gailes to stop the stolen car. The vehicle swerved to avoid the device which resulted in it hitting a police car, causing minor panel damage.

The driver and three passengers ran from the car and three were arrested by police a short time later.

During this time, one of the passengers re-entered the vehicle and drove away. Polair monitored to car to the Logan Motorway where Mount Gravatt officers then successfully deployed a tyre deflation device at the Viking Drive on-ramp, resulting in the vehicle coming to rest alongside the crash barrier and the fourth person being detained.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
