Westgate Highway Patrol members are seeking public assistance to help identify a man who sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car in Braybrook this morning, Victoria Police say.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Ballarat Road and Evans Street about 5.30am.
He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The driver, a 36-year-old Campbellfield man, stopped at the scene to assist.
Police have been unable to identify the pedestrian, who was not carrying any identification or phone with him.
He is perceived to be Indian in appearance, aged in his 30s or 40s, about 160cm tall with black hair, a black short beard and bushy eyebrows.
At the time of the incident he was wearing black tracksuit pants, a dark-coloured button-down shirt and no shoes.
Anyone with information on the identity of the man or who witnessed the collision is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
