Unlawful entries - Greater Darwin Region

Strike Force Trident members are investigating a number of unlawful entries of homes and businesses across the Greater Darwin Region during the weekend.

Police have received reports of 16 unlawful entries, including seven business premises in Berrimah and Winnellie. Five of those businesses reported having their electricity disconnected by the offenders before they unlawfully entered the properties. A licensed premises in Palmerston was also broken into, with liquor stolen, Northern Territory Police say.

It is believed the offences occurred sometime between Friday night and this morning.

Strike Force Trident Officer In Charge Senior Sergeant Rob Jordan said that it appears as though cash was the target during the unlawful entries in Berrimah and Winnellie.

"The offenders have caused a lot of damage for a couple of hundred dollars in cash.

"Our advice to business owners is try to secure their power boxes or make it as difficult as possible to access them, and ensure they have good back-up systems for power and security.

"And as easy as it sounds, we remind people to ensure they secure their homes and businesses when they close up for the day or go to bed."

Police would like anyone with information about these unlawful entries, or the persons shown in the attached images, to contact them on 131 444 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
