Police have charged two people after a stolen car was allegedly driven dangerously on the Bruce Highway on Saturday night, Queensland Police say.
At around 10:15pm a car which was reported stolen from Kingston on September 19 was seen by police being driven on Federation Drive in Bethania.
Police tracked the vehicle onto the Bruce Highway with the assistance of Polair where it was allegedly seen being driven dangerously.
At around 10:50pm officers successfully deployed tyre deflation devices at the Pumicestone Overpass at Caboolture, and after a short pursuit the car was intercepted on the Bruce Highway, between Pumicestone Road and Steve Irwin Way.
When the car stopped it will be alleged a man fled from the vehicle into nearby bushland where he was located a short time later by officers from the dog squad and taken into custody.
A woman who was allegedly travelling as a passenger in the stolen car was taken into custody at the vehicle without incident.
A 30-year-old man has been charged with two counts of failing to stop a motor vehicle and one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, driving without a driver’s licence and possession of property suspected of having been used in the commission of a crime.
A 34-year-old Kulangoor woman has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possess utensils or pipes.
They are both due to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court on September 24.
