Unlawful use of a motor vehicle, Townsville and Charters Towers

Two boys are currently assisting police with their investigation after a vehicle was stolen in Townsville overnight, Queensland Police say.

A 2014 Nissan Duke was stolen from a North Ward residence sometime between 9pm October 11 and 6.20am October 12.

Members of the public notified police after they observed the vehicle driving in a dangerous manner through Townsville.

Initial inquiries also indicate the vehicle was involved in a petrol drive-off incident at Woodstock, before the car was driven towards Charters Towers.

A tyre deflation device was successfully deployed on the Flinders Highway at Gladstone Creek.

Local police pursued the vehicle through Charters Towers before the Nissan was abandoned in Paull Street.

A 14-year-old and a 16-year-old boy were arrested nearby.

Investigations are continuing.
