Unlawful wounding charge in Coomera, QLD

Detectives from Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have charged a 23-year-old man following an incident in Coomera last night, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged at about 8pm a verbal altercation ensued between two men travelling on a train along the Gold Coast line.

It will be further alleged the 23-year-old man walked to another carriage when he was followed by the 40-year-old man who commenced to kick the man’s motorcycle helmet.

It will also be alleged the older man received a single stab wound to his abdomen.

Police attended Coomera Railway Station and arrested the 23-year-old man a short distance away.

The 40-year-old man was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The man from Oxenford has been charged with one count each of unlawful wounding, possess dangerous drugs and possess utensil.

He is scheduled to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on October 17.

The men were not known to each other.
