Unlawful wounding in Fortitude Valley, QLD

Detectives have charged a man after a 30-year-old man was allegedly stabbed in Fortitude Valley this morning, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged around 7.45am the man sustained two stab wounds to his abdomen during an assault on Brunswick Street at Kemp Place.

The victim managed to seek assistance at a nearby fire station before being transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

He underwent surgery this morning and remains in a stable condition.

A 50-year-old man has been charged with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw any suspicious activity in the area at the time to contact police.
