UNSC Holds Debate on Conflict-Driven Food Crisis

The Security Council holds a high-level open debate on conflict-related food insecurity under the theme "Framing the global dialogue: Addressing food insecurity as a driver of conflict and ensuring food security for sustainable peace".

Chaired by President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone, the meeting will feature briefings by: Amina Mohammed, UN Deputy Secretary-General and Chair of the UN Sustainable Development Group; Joyce Msuya, Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs; Ibrahim Assane Mayaki, Special Envoy for Food Systems of the African Union; and Maximo Torero Cullen, the Chief Economist of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
