Update 2: Homicide in Home Hill, QLD

Police investigations are continuing into a homicide that occurred on August 23 in Home Hill, Queensland Police say.

A 29-year-old French man was taken to the Townsville watch house overnight were he remains in custody.

As the man was being transported from the hospital to the Watch House around 5.45pm, he assaulted two officers and resisted violently.

He is in custody following the death of a 21-year-old British woman Mia Ayliffe Chung at a back packer’s hostel in Home Hill on the evening of August 23.

A 30-year-old British man has also been taken to hospital where he remains with critical head injuries, and a 46-year-old local man sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate with federal authorities, and it is expected the man will be interviewed today.
