Update fatal plane crash, Herberton Range

Police and emergency services have this morning retrieved the body of a man from a plane crash site on the Herberton Range.

The aircraft was due to arrive in Atherton yesterday, but during a search it was found around 4pm on the Herberton Range.

The male pilot, a 71-year-old Townsville man, and sole occupant of the aircraft was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

The Queensland Police Service would like to that the support they were given by other agencies including Queensland Fire and Emergency Service, Queensland Government Air, the Department of Parks and Wildlife and the Queensland Ambulance Service.
