Update – further fraudulent motorcycle licence investigation charges

Officers from Taskforce Maxima have this week charged five members of Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs in relation to the fraudulent obtaining of motorcycle licences, Queensland Police say.

In November 2016 following an investigation into the activities of a Beenleigh-based Q-Ride accredited motorcycle training academy, officers from Maxima charged two men aged 63 and 24, with numerous fraud offences.

It is alleged during 2015 and 2016 the two men falsely signed and issued competency documents without requiring applicant riders to complete the proper training and assessment process. It is further alleged that on each occasion, the applicant rider paid cash to receive their completed competency declaration. The completed document is required to be lodged with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads in order for a learner rider to obtain a motorcycle qualification on their driver’s licence.

At time of the arrest of the two men, 13 people were charged in relation to fraudulently obtaining their competency documents. The arrest of the five OMCG members brings the total number of applicant riders charged to 18.

Each person has been charged with one count of fraud in relation to the alleged fraudulent obtaining of their competency documents.

"We will allege that of the five charged this week, three were members of the Bandidos club, one a member of the Odins Warriors and one from the Comanchero’s.

"A total of 20 people have been charged so far and it is likely that figure will grow. We are continuing our investigations into a number of people who obtained their motorcycle competency documents from this academy," Acting Detective Inspector Jason Gough from Taskforce Maxima said.
