Update – Linked burglary offences, Gold Coast

Detectives investigating a series of burglaries targeting Gold Coast businesses between Sunday September 3 and Thursday September 7 have released additional CCTV footage of two men who may be able to assist with inquiries, Queensland Police say.

Shortly before 1am on September 7 two men entered a takeaway food store on Broadwater Avenue at Hope Island by smashing a glass door with a rock.

The men conducted a search of the property however left empty-handed. Around 6am that morning the same men broke into another takeaway business located on Bermuda Street at Varsity Lakes, using a brick to smash their way through the door.

The men removed the store till containing a sum of cash and fled the scene in a grey SUV.

It is believed the thieves broke into up to ten premises including takeaway food outlets, cafes, a hardware store and a medical centre.

Similar burglaries were reported overnight on September 7 from businesses in Burleigh Waters, Mermaid Waters, Miami, Mudgereeba and Southport.

CCTV footage release by police today shows two men entering a café on Karbunya Street at Mermaid Waters by smashing a glass door.

The first man (pictured) is described as Caucasian in appearance with dark hair, a short rat’s tail with a tattoo above his left eyebrow and tattoos down both lower legs.

The second man (pictured) is also described as Caucasian.

Police have since located a stolen 2014 grey Range Rover used by the thieves which was abandoned at Reedy Creek on September 8.
