UPDATE: Man arrested following suspected street racing crash in Cabramatta

A man has been arrested this afternoon and is assisting with inquiries following a suspected street race and crash in Cabramatta overnight, NSW Police say.

About 12.35am today, a red Toyota Corolla and a black Nissan were reportedly racing on the Hume Highway when they collided.

The Corolla crashed through the front fence of a home landing on the front lawn. The driver and two of the occupants of the vehicle managed to free themselves, however the front passenger remained trapped.

Emergency services worked to the free the man before he was taken to Liverpool Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

The three other occupants of the vehicle were also taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

The Nissan allegedly failed to stop after the crash and a search for the vehicle was undertaken.

About 2pm today, officers from Cabramatta Local Area Command located a Nissan Sylvia in the car park of a hotel nearby on The Hume Highway.

The Nissan was unattended at the time. Officers seized the car and it will undergo forensic examinations.

A bout 5.15pm this afternoon today, a 21-year-old man attended Cabramatta Police Station where he was arrested.

He is currently assisting with inquiries.
