Update – Man arrested over shooting incident at Southport, QLD

Investigations into the circumstances leading to a 31-year-old man presenting himself to the Gold Coast University hospital with a suspected gunshot wound last Sunday have culminated in an arrest, Queensland Police say.

Detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch have been conducting a thorough investigation into the incident which is believed to have taken place in a vehicle on Cotlew Street at Southport.

A 23 -year-old Paradise Point man was today taken into custody at a residence in Paradise Point where a firearm was also allegedly recovered by police.

He has been charged with a number of offences including acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of counterfeit currency, and related drugs and firearms charges and is expected to face Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.
