The Australian Government has confirmed the continuation of Qantas air passenger services to Norfolk Island, extending the current agreement with the airline through to March 2028.
The extension reflects the Australian Government's ongoing commitment to ensuring reliable and appropriate air services are in place to support the Norfolk Island community and local economy.
As part of the extension, the flight schedule has been updated to reflect Qantas' revised timetable. These changes support operational requirements, allow for additional ground time and take daylight saving into consideration.
Qantas was originally engaged in March 2023 through an open and competitive tender to deliver regular passenger and freight air services to the island. The initial contract term was for three years, with two optional two-year extensions.
The Australian Government will continue providing underwriting support to maintain this essential service and connectivity for Norfolk Island.
The government's priority remains continuity of service and reliable access to and from Norfolk Island. It will continue working closely with Qantas and the Norfolk Island community to ensure air services continue to be responsive to the island's needs.
