Update on waste services in 2870 & 2869 13 September

Parkes Shire
Council has been consistently reviewing the State Government Health Orders and monitoring advice from the Department of Health and the Environmental Protection Authority to assist in reopening the Parkes and Peak Hill Waste facilities.
It has been determined that subject to a number of COVID-19 Safe Operations these facilities can reopen to the general public as of tomorrow, Tuesday 14 September 2021. This reopening will be done in a safe and staged way to protect the Parkes community and Council's staff and contractors.
Please note that Council cannot interpret whether or not the police will classify your trip as a valid excuse to leave home.
The regular hours of operation will apply however specific controls will be in place to protect the users and staff/contractors onsite:
+ Queuing on the access road prior to the weighbridge will be required. Waiting points will be marked and access beyond the weighbridge will be controlled to restrict numbers of vehicles on the transfer bay apron.
+ Only two vehicles will be able to access the transfer bay apron at any one time.
+ Only two transfer bays will be open. This will assist in providing the objective of safe distancing.
+ Council asks that only one person leave their vehicle when dropping off waste or recycling to minimise contact.
With the reopening, site visitors are reminded of:
+ Their obligation to wear a mask, in line with public health orders.
+ All people stay at least 1.5 metres away from others.
+ The public should not visit the facility if they are sick or feel unwell.
+ Ensure that all visitors use the QR code system provided at the weighbridge.
