Update to Cross Border Travel Direction for Victorian arrivals

Due to the changing situation in Victoria, the State Coordinator, Commissioner of Police Grant Stevens has today announced amendments to the Emergency Management Cross Border Travel Directions.

The following changes will come into effect at 6pm on Sunday 22 August 2021 -

  1. All returning South Australian residents and people who are genuinely relocating can no longer enter SA (Level 6 requirements). They can apply for an exemption through SA Health.
  2. People fleeing Domestic Violence are now subject to level 5 requirements (COVID-19 test day 1, 5 & 13, subject to 14 days quarantine at a place determined by an authorised officer and must wear a mask at any time that they come into contact with the public for a period of 14 days after their arrival in SA).

Essential Travellers including Cross Border Community Member's requirements remain unchanged at this time.

All travellers are reminded that in order to return to South Australia they are to have an approved Cross Border Traveller form.

Police would also like to remind travellers returning via road to SA to expect delays when crossing the border and ask motorists to drive to the conditions.

Approved returning SA residents will be provided a quarantine sign which must be displayed on the premises in which they are quarantining.

They will be given a personal direction by an authorised officer requiring them to ensure the sign is displayed.

People who are required to quarantine at home are reminded that regular compliance checks will take place. Those people found not to be complying with the requirements may be subject to a fine or prosecution.

This is interim advice until the formal direction has been written, signed and formally authorised by the State Coordinator.
