The Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel - Associated Direction No 36) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel - Associated Direction No 37) (COVID-19) Direction 2021. This Direction comes into effect at 5.10pm on Monday 2 August 2021.
Effective as of 5.10pm on Monday 2 August 2021:
- Any person (including Essential Travellers and Permitted Arrivals) arriving from Queensland (other than Greater Brisbane LGAs) after 5.10pm on Monday 2 August 2021, is subject to Level 3 requirements:
- COVID-19 test on day 1, 5, & 13.
- Must self-quarantine until a negative test result is returned.
- A person must not enter or remain in a high risk setting in SA for a period of 14 days after their arrival in SA unless the person is permitted to enter in accordance with clause 9 of Cross Border Travel - General COVID-19 Direction 2021.
- No entry to COVID Management Plan events or at which more than 1000 people are present for a period of 14 days after their arrival in South Australia.
Note: Any person (excluding Essential Travellers and Permitted Arrivals) who has been in the Greater Brisbane area in the 14 days prior to arrival is prohibited from entering South Australia.
Greater Brisbane LGAs include: City of Brisbane, Moreton Bay Region, Sunshine Coast Region, Shire of Noosa, Gold Coast, Logan City, Ipswich City, Redland City, Lockyer Valley Region, Scenic Rim, Somerset Region.
Victorian (VIC) and New South Wales (NSW) Cross Border Corridor
People who are ordinarily reside in the VIC or NSW Cross Border Corridor who have a permitted purpose to travel across the border, are not required to submit to the COVID-19 testing requirements. Permitted purposes are:
- employment or education; or
- providing care and support to, or receiving care and support from, another person; or
- obtaining food, petrol or other fuel or medical care or supplies; or
- obtaining a COVID-19 vaccination; or
- recreational or competitive sport.

Commercial Transport and Freight Operators / Furniture removalists
Commercial Transport and Freight Operators arriving from New South Wales and furniture removalists arriving from Australian Capital Territory or Victoria are required to present evidence they have undertaken a COVID-19 test within the previous 72 hours and must use an approved contact tracing system, including at the testing station.
