Updates to COVID-19 Directions 4 February 2021, South Australia

COVID-19 Directions have been updated in South Australia in relation to the situation in Victoria.

Updates have been made to the Cross Border Travel and Residential Aged Care Directions. These updates provide restrictions for people travelling from Victoria.

Cross Border Travel Direction No 34 and Quarantine and Testing of Certain Former Victorian Arrivals Direction

The Cross Border No 34 Direction came into effect at 1816hrs on Thursday 4 February 2021. The public should be aware that a new Direction has been created under the Emergency Management Act 2004 by the State Coordinator, Grant Stevens. This Direction is the Emergency Management (Quarantine and Testing of Certain Former Victorian Arrivals) (COVID-19) which came into effect at 1820hrs on Thursday 4 February 2021.

The changes are as follow:

Entry from Victoria

  • People wishing to enter South Australia from the Greater Melbourne Area are permitted to do so providing that theyreceive a COVID-19 test within 24 hours from arrival in South Australia and self-quarantine until they receive a negative test result. They must get tested again on day 5 and day 12.
  • People who are already in South Australia having been in the Greater Melbourne Area since 28 January 2021 must immediately receive a COVID-19 test and self-quarantine until they receive a negative test result. They must get tested again on day 5 and day 12.
  • People who have been at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, 123 Collins St, Melbourne or are a close contact or a person at the hotel on or between 12.01am 21 January 2021 and 12.01am 31 January 2021 must contact SA Health immediately and quarantine (at a place determined by an authorised officer) for 14 days, receiving COVID-19 tests on days 1, 5 and 12.
  • People who have been at a 'Public Exposure Site' as defined on the following Victoria Government website must self-quarantine for 14 days, receiving COVID-19 tests on days 1, 5 and 12. https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/case-locations-and-outbreaks-covid-19
  • People who are travelling from other parts of Victoria (other than those stated above) are permitted to enter and do not have any testing or quarantine requirements.
  • People are permitted to transit through Melbourne Airport providing they have been in a Low Community Transmission Zone (ACT, WA-other than a Prohibited Zone, NSW-other than a Restricted Location, NT, QLD, TAS and VIC- other than areas mentioned above) for 14 days, have only been in the airport for 2 hours or less and have worn a face mask for the entirety of the time they are in transit including during the flight.
  • People can only travel into South Australia from Victoria on particular roads. For a full list of Permitted Roads see Schedule 5 of the Cross Border Direction.

Residential Aged Care Facilities Direction No 27

The Residential Aged Care Facilities No 27 Direction came into effect at 1822hrs on Thursday 4 February 2021.

The only change to the Residential Aged Care Facilities Direction is:

  • People who have been in any Greater Melbourne Area may only enter an RACF having isolated and received a negative test result.
  • All other travellers from Victoria are permitted to enter the facility
  • A person who has entered SA and completed 14 days of quarantine is free to move around South Australia and also enter a Residential Aged Care Facility.

The Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel No 33) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel No 34)(COVID-19) Direction 2021. The Emergency Management (Residential Aged Care Facilities No 26) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Residential Aged Care Facilities No 27) (COVID-19) Direction 2021.
